Some really great points you bring up here, although I thought I'd chime in - I've always assumed if your freelance then you've got business cards, its always thought to go without saying - but in 2006 I brought 100 MiniCards from moo.com and I've only just got through them; but 100 in a couple of years might sound good - I'd actually started using them as bookmarks, and I also put them into eBay orders, or I leave a small pile with friends - I've probably given less than 20 out to individuals...
So I hear ya! - I think I've actually told more people my Twitter URL and got more business through Twitter than from my cards - Tim Van Damme's site is pretty good - have you this service: www.meeid.com?
